So, when summer hits is when I’m usually able to find the time to get my leisure reading done–it’s just too difficult to read books I want to read on top of school books during the school year. Admittedly, summer’s already almost half-way over and I’ve barely made a dent in my reading–ehh, okay, it’s not even a dent. Anyways, I’m a huge comics fan and a big X-Men fan as well. For years, I’ve been wanting to truly understand the continuity in the story over the past fourtey-something years. So I decided to start at the beginning. I picked up Essential X-Men, Vol. 2 at Amazon.com. The cover looks something like this:
I know what you’re going to say, I thought you said you were starting from the beginning? Well, ideally, I’d like to. But I had a hard time tracking down Volume 1, and I heard that Volume 2 is a great place to start, so that’s where I’m beginning.
This volume has over 20 issues in it, and for around $13, that’s not a bad deal at all. The only problem, and some people may not even call it is problem (but I didn’t know this when I ordered it), is that it is all black-and-white, so if you want the color, don’t buy it. Still, even without color, you won’t find a better deal.
Currently, I’m about 3 issues in and loving it. The first issues seem to be coming off a larger story arc in the volume before this so not much has happened yet, but I’m excited as apparently the Dark Phoenix arc happens in this volume. Can’t wait!
Anyways, that’s just one book on my large list of things I want to read. I’ll keep you updated along the way!
Hey everyone! It’s Ethan from WordPlay Poetry. This is my new blog, spinning off from WordPlay–don’t worry I fully intend to keep WordPlay up and running. I want this blog to become everything me that isn’t writing (well, I suppose I’ll provide updates about writing here as well, but that’s mainly what WordPlay will remain for). Where WordPlay will still be the place where you can read all my poetry and fiction, The Brew will become the location for everything else I do–the movies I watch, the books I write, the things I draw, etc. I find this new title very fitting as it applies to the concoction of interests that make me, well, me, and has roots in my creation, Mr. Brewding, who started all of these web shenanigans in the first place.
The main feature of this blog, will be the What’s Brewing? section, where I’ll discuss what I’m interested in doing at the moment. Aside from this feature, I’ll also have any other links I find relevant to myself as an individual.
That’s all for now–the blog isn’t much at the moment, but I promise to make it more appealing soon!
Stop by at your own leisure and check out what I like to do during my spare time.
